Anita Görbicz and Handball Tickets

Anita Görbicz was born 13 May 1983 in Veszprém. Anita Görbicz is a Hungarian handballer playing for Győri Audi ETO KC and the Hungarian national team. Anita Görbicz was voted World Handball Player of the Year 2005 by the International Handball Federation.

Anita Görbicz started her career at Hungarian club Győri Audi ETO KC in 1993, aged 10. Anita Görbicz has become a key member of the team and her absence is considered a notable disadvantage. With Győr, Görbicz has won the Hungarian Championship and Cup several times. At European level, Anita Görbicz has reached the finals of the Cup Winners' Cup and EHF Cup. Győri ETO reached the final stage of the Champions League for the first time in 2009. Due to a knee injury a few days before the matches, Görbicz missed the finals where Győr lost against Danish champion Viborg HK. In spite of this, she ranked second in the tournament's top goalscorers list.

Görbicz participated in the 2003 World Championship where Hungary lost the final match against France. Anita Görbicz received a bronze medal at the 2004 European Championship. In Russia 2005 she won bronze with her team. Anita Görbicz has seen her performance with the national team officially recognized several times. She has been a member of the World Championship All-Star Team three times in a row: 2003, 2005 and 2007. Anita Görbicz was also among the tournament top goalscorers in 2005 (ranked third) and 2007 (ranked second).

Anita Görbicz was part of the Hungarian team at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, and again at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In 2004 the Hungarian team placed fifth, after losing to the French team in the quarterfinals, and beating Brazil and Spain in the placement matches. At the 2008 Olympics Games Hungary placed fourth, after beating Romania in the quarterfinals and qualifying for the semifinals, losing to Russia in the semi, and then losing to South Korea in the bronze final. Görbicz scored 49 goals at the 2008 Olympics second only to Romania's Ramona Maier.

Olympic Handball Overview

Handball is also famous as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or Borden ball. Handball is a team game in which each player of both teams tries to pass a ball to throw it into the goal of the opposite team. Each handball team has seven players and the position of six players is outfield and one player took position as a goalkeeper. 

The court of handball made as 40 by 20 meters and a goal is located in the center of each end and the goals are surrounded by a near-semicircular area, called the zone or the crease, defined by a line six meters from the goal. This game is divided into two rounds or halves and each half has time period of thirty minutes. The team which has maximum numbers of goals is considered as winner team at the end of both halves.

In 1925 the first international handball games were played between Germany and Belgium, only men participated in these games and first woman’s game was held in 1930 between Germany and Austria. The International Handball Federation was formed in 1926.In 1938 the men world championship was organized by the International Handball Federation and the women's world championship has been played since 1957.

Men field handball was played at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. The sport re-emerged onto the world stage as team handball for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. Women's team handball was added at the 1976 Summer Olympics.
